When I cap my FPS in CS:GO's console (fps_max), the graph is consistently, fluctuating - and the numeric readout typically varies by 0.5 - 1.0 ms. To the contrary, when I cap the frame rate in RTSS, and set fps_max to 999 in console, the graph reads dead-stable - just a straight line - no movement , and the numeric readout shows only 6.7 ms
So I'll find a setting that works best for me in regards to balance between picture quality and framerate. For example I'm seeing framerates on average 90 fps in FH5 and will then limit it to 80 fps. Advantage for me is to have stable framerate and input lag. Also the GPU will be more silent and cooler.
Changing the program settings ONLY for csgo does not work, CSGO is still capped at 165 until I completely turn off gsync. I want to use gsync in everything but in CSGO. Before it was not an issue, but somehow it is now. Vsync is disabled, all frame limiting options and softwares are completely off. Do you guys know how to fix this issue?
Usually I get 140+ fps on games like Valorant,LoL and 250+ fps on Rocket League, CSGO with my 1660Ti. The question is what Hz should I aim for? 144 Hz Asus vg249q (cheaper, could use full potential in almost every game) 240 Hz MSI Optix MAG251RX (0.5″ bigger, 240Hz, future proof, could not use its full potential in every game)
Open your Steam game library. Right-click Apex Legends. Open Properties. Go to Launch Options under General Properties. In Launch Options, type "+fps_max [FPS value]". Again, if you want to
If you struggle to maintain a high range of fps then just cap it lower. Screen tearing occurs a lot more at lower fps there is a reason why default is at 300 fps since 120+ hz monitors will feel different. I have a 120hz monitor and the difference between 121 fps and uncapped (300-400) is very very different.

should i cap fps in csgo
